Product Area Summary:
Provide Operational system safety engineering and technical support of combat system design, safety requirements identification and implementation, safety analysis and safety certifications throughout system life-cycles. The scope of the support focuses on surface ships including integration and use of the Aegis Combat System, Aegis BMD System, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), integrated training and future combat system designs and capabilities. The effort also includes operational safety engineering and technical support for the U.S. Coast Guard DEEPWATER program configurations, the Shipboard Gridlock System (SGS) and Battle Force (Interoperability) operational safety evaluations. This group is comprised of prior senior enlisted and commissioned officers who have demonstrated sustained superior performance in operational roles coupled with a skill set that compliments the research, analysis and disciplined thinking that are cornerstones to the system engineering process. The hallmark of this group is the ability to provide an effective, cohesive and constructive path between mission needs, requirements and system development or evaluation. This group supports a number of different customers, and is not organized as a single support unit but rather as a core competency which can be drawn on across a broad range of needs.
