Task Leader:

Product Area Summary:

Product Area contains four major sub-areas:

·   JCIDS Process Document Development

Key members of the team are fully conversant with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process (CJCSI 3170.01E) and perform analysis for major programs within those guidelines.  Functional Analysis work conforms to the JCIDS process and when appropriate results in preparation of the Initial Capabilities Document (ICD). With use of the process, the team is also expert at completing capability gap analysis on already existing systems and capabilities as they relate to higher level DoD and Joint war fighting guidance.  With this experience the team has also been called on the prepare papers for publication on the process that include the way ahead for DoD Transformation.  Perform complete analyses for concept and product development that includes preparation of Concepts of Operations, Functional Analyses, and Integrated Architecture Development.  The team has also used its expertise to evaluate and prepare appropriate documentation for the new Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD) process.

·   Analysis of Alternatives(AOA/AA)

Key members of the team have planned and led AOA/AA’s for all acquisition category programs. Team members provide AOA/AA leadership consultation and AOA/AA planning; develop mission area, platform level; and system level CONOPS; participate in the development of decision alternatives and manning concepts; participate in capabilities analysis and cost schedule and risk analysis; and develop AOA/AA Decision structures, and decision metrics.

·   Force Design and Force Planning

Key members develop long-term future context for joint force development to support future force design and planning projects including future joint force combat logistics requirements definition and force sizing studies. Members developed global employment context for estimating fleet long-term power requirements. Members developed alternative naval force architectures and transitional force plans to implement them. Members developed joint force architecture evaluation/assessment processes and participated in force structure impact assessments of introducing new technologies. Members developed acquisition strategies for the coordinated development and deployment of families of systems.

·   System Planning and System Architecture

Key members develop system architectures and CONOPS for a variety of advanced systems to be deployed and employed in a wide range of environments in the areas of sensing systems, logistics systems, air and missile defense systems, and command and control systems.
