WHAT WE DO

  • BCI Cares

At BCI, community and family are very important.  We are proud to help out employees who find themselves struggling to balance work and life’s challenges due to health issues or other situations out of their control. BCI sponsors community fund-raising events, and our employees are dedicated volunteers who make a difference not only in the community, but in the lives of those who benefit from their selfless giving. BCI is strong supporter of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council. BCI’s fundraisers to support our employees in their time of trials are some of the craziest and most fun events within our organization. Not only are we able to bring joy to those employees in need, but it’s another reason our employees love coming to work at BCI!

  • King George Social Services

For well over the past decade, BCI has provided support to King George County Social Services Holiday Program during their Thanksgiving and Christmas outreach programs. Each year BCI sponsors several families in the local community to provide them with a Thanksgiving feast and with the leftover money, a Food Lion gift card is purchased so they are provided with a little bit of assistance for when it’s needed. At Christmas, BCI again sponsors several local families by filling the wish lists of the children of the community who may not otherwise have a blessed Christmas.

  • Germanna Educational Foundation

Germanna images BCI believes in the value of an education, and in that regard, supports the Germanna Community College Educational Foundation in their mission to assist students financially in receiving a quality and accessible education. In addition to BCI having a presence on the Board of Directors, BCI also supports the Foundation’s fundraising efforts which includes competing in the Germanna Educational Foundation annual Golf Tournament.

  • Stafford Hospital Foundation

Stafford Hospital image BCI Dahlgren’s Vice President, Ted Hontz, serves on the Stafford Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. Throughout the year, various events are held for donors and the public to join in supporting the mission Mary Washington Healthcare. The Foundation promotes partnerships with community organizations to improve the health status of all people within our community. BCI supported the Stafford Hospital Foundation 5k run held in April 2014.

  • Conservation Efforts

BCI is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and making choices that put us on a path towards a more sustainable future for our children and our children’s children. In our Dahlgren offices as part of this program, we have implemented a recycling program for glass, cardboard, paper, plastic, magazines, newspapers, and network printer cartridges.

Additionally, BCI supports Marstel-Day (a local environmental consulting firm with a focus on the conservation of habitat, open space, and resources) and their “Green Galaâ€_ event which celebrates the important work of non-profit organizations that are committed to preserving the great outdoors. BCI’s contributions, through this event to the National Wildlife Refuge Association and Tree Fredericksburg, will assist in the conservation efforts of America’s wildlife for future generations.

  • Wounded Warrior Project

BCI is proud to support veterans, especially programs such as the Wounded Warrior Project. Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed as a fitness challenge to test all-around strength, stamina, teamwork, and mental grit – it’s a set of values lived out on the course and in everyday life. Whether the obstacle to overcome is the Funky Monkey’s inclined bars coated in mud with a pit of mud below, Arctic Enema ice water challenge, Everest’s climb while covered in mud and grease, or the Balls to the Wall muddy rope climb, it’s all worth it to support what our Wounded Warriors have gone through to serve our country and for us to be free.

  • National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Several current and previous employees’ family members suffer from Multiple Sclerosis, or “MSâ€_ as it is popularly known, which is an inflammatory disease that disrupts the ability of parts of the nervous system to communicate.  Permanent neurological problems often occur.  On Saturday, May 3, 2014, employees from BCI participated in the annual “Walk MSâ€_ in Fredericksburg, VA.  BCI raised funds in several ways, including holding an auction in which employees bid to cut off the tie of a manager and cutting off the coveted pony-tail of one of our engineers.  We exceeded our goal!!  We raised $1,666 for the National MS Society to give hope to more than 5,600 people living with MS in the Fredericksburg community.  We are proud to support life-changing programs and cutting-edge research for our community and our BCI family!
